Übungen and Praktika are oriented toward the attainment of practical skills, rather than to an in-depth treatment of a particular topic. Foreign students studying languages in Germany typically encounter the Übersetzungsübungen (translation courses) in the German language departments. Übungen and Praktika are similar to Seminare in that they have limited attendance, examinations are required, and Scheine are issued.
